Red Rain,

IPhoneography transfer on Encaustic Board, with semitransparent bees wax. 16” x 18”

This is where 30% of this 365 project is going to end up as Encaustic works. The subtle transparencies and warm wax are perfect for iPhoneography. I guess just printing them and framing would not even occur to me, It’s about manipulating the transfer and the many layers of wax, shaved and polished that’s what makes it “real” most will be small because of the native DPI of the images but I will shoot for some large works at some time but then I’ll have to get into PS and really get involved with manipulation.

If it has a bit of a blur to it, that’s the effect of the wax and you really have to see it in person, so just stop by

not so much that but the wax gives it a translucency like it is floating inside the colors change and it takes on a tile like look, it very hard to work with it dries the second you put it on, lots of scraping shaving and polishing but its tactile a photo is not. the problem is you never get a good image on the screen for it looks blurry but not in the flesh, thanks Deacon!

Ahh :lightbulb: I think I understand now. :) I wish I could see the physical piece to compare and really appreciated it. Going to have to keep my eyes open for these materials, it sounds like a lot of fun to work with.

150 each? Oh, Wow! :O But I suppose one does want quality materials.

Had to do a search for Encaustic, as I had never heard of it before. [link]

The only time I'd ever used wax was in junior high art class doing Batik. Is the idea here to get tinting variations and a polished protective surface for the photo?
